Travel Apps

What travel Apps do you need/find most useful when travelling for business or leisure? Here are some of our Apps that we use constantly when travelling.

1. XE Currency

Need to calculate currencies on-the-go? With the XE Currency App, you can access live exchange rates, view historical charts, and calculate prices on your smartphone or tablet.

This FREE app is available for iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows devices.

2. WhatsApp

At MICEport we love WhatsApp. A lot of clients and partners use WhatsApp and it is a great way to send quick messages, photos, group chats and calls and there are no fees!

NO FEES; MULTIMEDIA: Send and receive photos, videos, and Voice Messages, FREE CALLS; GROUP CHAT; NO INTERNATIONAL CHARGES; QUICKLY CONNECT WITH YOUR CONTACTS; OFFLINE MESSAGES.

3. Spotify

This is MICEport President's sanity while away from the office - and when he is in the office ;)

Spotify is the best way to listen to music on mobile or tablet. Search for any track, artist or album and listen for free. Make and share playlists. Build your biggest, best ever music collection. Get inspired with personal recommendations, and readymade playlists for just about everything. Listen absolutely free with ads, or get Spotify Premium.

4. Uber

We all know Uber and it is a great App with a couple of caveats - they do not operate in all European countries and if they do, they may be restricted to certain cities. Despite this, we use this app all of the time when travelling especially in the US, even if it is getting back and forth from the airport.

London is a crucial city for Uber, however MICEport do not use Uber in London. The reason for us not using Uber in London is that there is such great value with the Black Taxi Cabs, it is not just nostalgia! "Cabbies" in London put a lot of work to get qualified to become a London Cabbie and it usually takes a minimum of 34 months - they have to take an exam called 'The Knowledge'. London Cabbies know every 'nook and cranny' in London because they have to and they can use bus lanes where Uber can not. Support the London Cabbies.

5. United Airlines

We fly frequently with United and we love the App. It is a great and easy to use app when :

  • Planning our flights

  • Checking flight status,

  • Gates,

  • Entertainment,

  • Boarding passes

  • Airport maps,

  • Track my bags
