The Sultanate of Oman offers a rich heritage, diverse topography and warm hospitality.  Oman is bordered by the United Arab Emirates to the northwest, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the west and Yemen to its southwest. Oman has a vast coastline, extending from the Gulf of Oman at the northeast and the Arabian Sea to its southeast. The picturesque Madha and Musandam enclaves have the UAE along its land border and the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman along its coast. 

Oman is endowed with vast gravel deserts, adventurous wadis, lush oasis, magnificent mountain ranges, and extensive coastline with clear water, pristine beaches and fascinating marine life. The major cities of Oman are Muscat – the capital city, Sohar, Sur and Salalah.  Forts, castles, museums, archaeological sites and traditional souqs give you an insight into the rich history and heritage of the Sultanate. Wadis, reserves, mountains, deserts, beaches, islands, water springs and lagoons let you get up close and personal with Mother Nature. Scuba diving, mountain climbing, trekking, camping, caving, canoeing, jet skiing and wadi bashing for those keen on adrenaline challenges. Whale watching, dolphin watching, bird watching, turtle watching allow you to meet Oman’s adored marine and wildlife visitors. Language

The official language of the Oman is Arabic, however English is widely used

VAT and Tax Refunds

Currently there is not Tax or VAT in the UAE, however there is a possibility that they may be implementing a tax in 2018.

Opening Hours

Generally shops are open Saturday- Thursday 8am-1pm and then 4.30pm-9.00pm

Currency

The monetary unit is the Dirham (AED). ATMs are widely available. Credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops.

Electrical Current

In the Oman the power sockets are of type C, D and G - 220 and 240 volts

Climate

Annual Weather Averages. June is the hottest month in Muscat with an average temperature of 35°C (95°F) and the coldest is January at 21°C (70°F) with the most daily sunshine hours at 13 in June. The wettest month is February with an average of 30mm of rain.
